封建社会的贞操观念 ,加上程朱理学的恶劣影响 ,明清时节妇烈女剧增 ,她们生活的经济来源主要是纺织、雇佣、种植、为娼等。此外 ,官方的奖励和家族的赈济亦成为少许节妇烈女生活的经济来源之一。

Because of the feudal virginity idea and the vile aftect of the Chen\|zhu doctrine,the number of the virtuous women increased rapidly.Their economic sources were spinning and weaving,being hired,planting and prostitute in addition,the government's award and the clan's aid.
