Policy inquiry is an important and valuable means for establishing a scienceoriented and democratized process of decision making. This paper gives an analytic exposition of the current situation of policy consultation in China. So far, policy inquiry has covered four stages and achieved five successes. In addition, the article lists the existing problems and issues in this aspect and finally it advances solutions to them.
