为了使石油地质档案的主题标引工作逐步走向规范化，以适应档案现代化管理的需要，同时使计算机自动化检索发挥出更大的作用，本文针对江汉石油管理局勘探开发研究院在石油地质档案主题标引工作中存在的问题，有针对性地论述了石油地质档案主题标引的重要性和正确理解主题概念、深层次地分析提炼主题词；以及中心主题词和限定主题词的位置关系；分析转换和组配问题的方法。

For normalizing the procedure of petroleum geological archives indexing, modernizing thc method of archives administration, computerizing thc way of seeking information, in view of the problem located in petroleum geological archives indexing for the institute of exploration and development of Sin- pec(jianghan), the article emphasizes the importance of petroleum geological archives indexing, and the correct comprehension for subject words; analysed deeply the methods of refining subject woods; discussed the location relationship between centered subject word and defined subject woods, and how to convert problems and match problems.
