Giant magnetostrictive materials is a new type of functional materials. It is widely applied in so many areas, especially in electromechanical engineering due to its high magnetostrictive strain, high power and electromechanical coupling coefficient under room temperature. Based on a large number of reference documents, this paper presents up to date application status of giant magnetostrictive actuator in electromechanical engineering and forecasts the broad developing prospects.
