道光朝经世实学的复兴 ,是在清王朝面临严重危机 ,西方资本主义国家侵略日深的形势下发生的。它不是传统的单纯再现 ,而是经儒学会通、中西会通的阶段与过程 ,体现了经世实学爱国、改革、师夷、御侮的主旨与追求。其中黄河流域的一批经世学者官员代表了时代的要求 ,并促进了黄河文化由传统走入近代的流变与转型 ,在历史转折时期 。

The revival in the reign of Emperor Dao Guang of the practical application of classic learning took place at a time when the Qing Dynasty was faced with a grave crisis and deepening foreign aggression.The revival was not merely the recurrence of a tradition but constituted a stage of the convergence of Confucianism and study of confucian classics as well as that of Chinese culture and western culture,giving expression to the patriotic spirit of the revival movement and a demand for reform,for learning from the West and resisting foreign aggression.Representing the needs of the times,some scholar officials working in the Yellow River Valley during the Dao Guang reign who were active participants in the revival movement worked toward the evolution of the Yellow River culture,promoting its transition from being traditional to modern,thus making outstanding contribution to the revival of the practical application of confucianism and the modernization process of China.
