本文基于诗可译的立场,以古今中外的典型译例为对象,讨论诗歌翻译中的一系列关键性问题。如:诗的内容和意境的领会与再现;诗的形式、韵律、节奏的传达;汉语古诗英译时须认真对待的行为主体和时态问题,等等。文章还对译诗佳作进行了讨论。

This paper discusses the translatability of poetry,and exemplifies the various ways of handling the three major aspects of poetry in translation, namely content, form, and meter and rhyme. Special issues in rendering Chinese poetry into English, such as agents and tenses, are also dealt with.
