The article deduces the equation relating the minimum ieflux ratio R_m to the rate of side draw S and the sidestream thermal condition parameter q_s, and indicates that the sidestreams above the feed will increase the minimum reflux ratio in binary rectification. The actual minimum reflux ratio is calculated by adding the necessary compensating amounts due to sidestreams to no-sidestream minimum reflux ratio.
