American TMD System and Its Development

The origin, constitution and function of the theatre missile defense(TMD) in America are described in this paper. This missile defense system is composed of low altitude area defense system, boost phase defense system and high altitude area defense system. The development and current state of Patriot Advanced Capability-3(PAC-3) defense system, Theatre High Altitude Area Defense system(THAAD),Navy Area Wide Defense system and Navy All Theatre Defense system(NATD) are present. The research and development in cooperation of America with Isreal, Japan, Korea(R.O),Germany and Italy are also described.
