李金发是中国现代诗坛上独树一帜的象征派诗歌的创始者。李金发早期的诗歌充满怪异、神秘、颓废和失落的情调 ,对西方文明的虚伪和卑劣作了抨击。他的诗诗中有画 ,有雕塑艺术的影响。他的诗的特征是重在当时感觉的表述 ,使用艺术形象的暗示 ,思路跳跃不定 ,场景碎片难于联接 ,心理状态新奇而难于理喻。其后期的诗 ,随着时代的发展变化而变化 ,从晦涩走向明朗 ,从病态走向刚强 ,表现了对祖国人民的真爱。

Li Jinfa has been a pioneer in modern symbolical poetry in China. Li Jinfa early poetry was full of the sentiments of mystery and decadence. His poetry applied the suggestive method to ferret out the sham and mean of western civilization. Li Jinfa later period poetry changed from unclear into clear,the poetry displayed his feelings to motherland.
