笔底寒潮撼星斗──陈独秀与中国新诗

CHEN Du-xiu and Chinese Vernacular Poetry

今人但知白话诗的尝试者为胡适，却未必知道陈独秀作为新文化运动的掌旗人，也是白话诗的有力倡导者与写作者，更重要的是他所主编的《新青年》杂志，实为中国白话诗最早的试验园地。陈独秀始终关注中国新诗的发展，直至晚年于狱中还对此发表过重要意见。然近年兴起的新文化保守主义对之却多存偏见。不矫正这偏见，不仅难以公正评价作为新文化运动旗手的陈独秀，也难以公正评价“五四”新文化运动。

CHEN Du-xiu,as leader of China's May 4th New Cultural Movement,contributed greatly to the development of Chinese vernacular poetry not only by advocating and writing free verses but also by editing the magazine' New Youth'which served as the earliest experimental field for Chinese vernacular poetry. CHEN had always been concerning about the development of the new Chinese poetry and had expressed important opinions about it until in prison in his later years. However,the newly-arising cultural conservatism in recent years reveals prejudices against this contribution of Chen's. Only by eliminating them can we make a fair evaluation on CHEN Du-xiu and, what is more important,on 'May 4th' New Cultural Movement.
