夏目漱石(1867-1916)是日本文学史上杰出的文学家、 思想家，日本近代文学批判现实主义文学的奠基人。他一生创作了大量的风格独特、体裁各异的不朽名作。夏目漱石早年受东方正统文化濡染，汉学造诣颇深。经过长期的探索、磨练，形成了他关切人生，抨击社会恶习的现实主义创作态度。他又是最早留学英国的日本近代作家，精通英文学，西方文化素养颇深，是位属于具有高深文化修养和丰富科学知识的作家，典型的靠东、西方两条腿走路的近代知识分子。他执着地追求人生的理想，探究人该如何生活，不懈地追求高层次的伦理性，并把它作为文学的第一要义。

Natsume (1867-1916) is an outstanding Japane se writer ,thinker and the father of critical realism in Japanese modern literature .He wrot e a lot of works with unique styles and different types ,Natsume was infected w ith formal eastern culture in his earlier days .He had great attainments in Chin ese. He formed his creative attitude of concerning over life and criticizing the ugly facts of the society through long-term exploration. He was also the earlie st Japanese modern writer who studied abroad in Britain. He had a good command o f English literature and western culture. He was a well -cultured, knowledgeabl e writer, and a typical intellectual with eastern and western culture. He was the person who sought the ideal life firmly .He also searched for how people sho uld live and was in pursuit of higher ethics and regarded it as the most importa nt point in literature.
