Garment description is part of aesthetic outlook in the novels. It also reflects related culture backgrounds to some extent. Ancient Chinese novels were deeply influenced by Confucianism. In terms of Confucian “harmony' and “similarity', conclusions can be reached that garment in ancient Chinese novels has harmonious beauty both in appearance and in spirit.
