The article expounds in a nutshell on the poems of Li Shimin, the first emperor of the Tang Dynasty. The article points out the rich and moral content, the honest and straight thinking of his poems, which reveal the mental outlook of the sagacious emperor. It comments on the various evaluations of his poems with regard to his artistic features and the impacts on the poetic circles of the early Tang Dynasty, and points out that some of the evaluations are unfair and not justified.
