Classroom is the microcosm of culture and society.What teachers are teaching,what students are learning and how they do them reflect the ovevall mode of life which is prevalent in the broad gocial culture context outside the classroom.The current English language teaching (ELT)situation at the tertiary level in China is thus much influenced by the social cultural background.
