恭维语是人类言语交际的一种重要形式。由于文化背景的不同，各种语言中的恭维语之间也存在着较大的差异。本文从语言形式、应答方式和涉及的话题等三个方面。
A compliment is a kind of linguistic communication which isessential to human being. Owing to the different cultural backgrounds, there are some differences existing in the compliments used indifferent languages. This article focuses its discussion of thedifferences between English and Chinese compliments on three aspects,that is, the linguistic form of compliments, their reponse formulas,and the topics used in the compliments. \ \
