摘要
由于文化、历史、社会体制的不同，中文和英语的称谓习惯也有所不同，了解这些差异将有助于语言学习者更好地达到交际的目的。本文从亲属关系和社会关系的角度论述了两种语言在称谓上的不同之处，同时又使人们了解在什么情况下应该使用什么样的称谓语，不至于造成误会或笑话，也不至于中断交际。
This paper analyses the difference of Chinese and English forms of address from the perspective of family relations and social relations. It also makes a discussion on how to address people appropriately in a proper situation, so as to avoid misunderstanding in communication. The purpose is to help language learners understand more about the culture implied in the two languages and improve interaction and communication.
