Chao Heng was the Chinese name of a Japanese scholar who studied and worked in China in the Tang dynasty. This paper gives a brief account of his life, focusing on his contributions to the Tang dynastys cause of library as an official editor and director of the palace library, and introduces his love for China and the praise and honour given to him by the Chinese and Japanese people. \ \
