《马氏文通》并未提出“主谓谓语”说

On the Absence of “Thematic Predicate" in Mashi Wentong

有人根据《马氏文通》中“读可作表词”的说法 ,认为“主谓谓语”是马建忠在《马氏文通》中首先提出来的。其实 ,《马氏文通》的“读”并非都是主谓词组 ,“读作表词”的句子一般只相当于今天所说的“名词谓语句”和“判断句” ,而不是“主谓谓语句”。对于今天公认的“主谓谓语句”句式 ,《马氏文通》则做了另外的解释。

Concluding from the statement in Mashi Wentong that “‘dou’(read) can serve as a linking verb', some scholars maintain that it was Ma Jianzhong, author of Mashi Wentong , who invented the term “thematic predicate'. As a matter of fact, “dou' cannot be always understood as a thematic predicate in Mashi Wentong , where sentences with “dou' acting as a linking verb are just modern equivalents of “noun-phrase sentences' and “judgements'. Mashi Wentong offers a different interpretation of the sentence type which is commonly understood as “thematic predicate' today.
