毛泽东知识分子思想是伴随着中国新民主主义革命和社会主义革命、建设的历程不断发展形成的。邓小平继承了毛泽东知识分子思想体系中的主导思想 ,肯定了知识分子在革命建设中的地位和作用 ,同时又在新的历史条件下发展了毛泽东知识分子思想 ,加深了对知识分子的认识 ,并逐渐形成了邓小平知识分子思想。

Mao Zedong's thoughts about intellectuals have been shaped with Chinese new democratic revolution and construction. Deng Xiaoping inherited his main thoughts and affirmed the position and roles of intellectuals in revolution and construction. Under new historical circumstances, he developed Mao Zedong thoughts and deepened the understanding for intellectuals, thus gradually forming his own thoughts about intellectuals.
