论中国的民族社会学研究

The Development of Sociology of Ethnicity in China

民族社会学作为社会学的一个研究领域 ,在欧洲和美国的许多大学里已经有相当长的历史 ,在理论上、方法上已经形成了自己的系统和特点 ,并且形成了自己的一些传统研究领域和专题。本文介绍了西方民族社会学研究文献的四个主要部分 ,建议从中国历史传统上处理民族关系的理论和方法、欧美各国关于民族和族群关系的理论、前苏联的民族和民族关系理论这三个方面吸收理论营养和智慧 ,努力总结涵盖各个地域族群关系的更为宏观、能够概括出人类族群关系的带有普遍共性的族群理论 ,这样就有可能超越目前西方民族社会学水准 ,为人类的学术发展做出自己的贡献。这些关于族群关系演变的理论 ,对“全球化”、现代化进程中社会结构变迁等社会学宏观理论的发展也将做出贡献。

Ethnic studies as a field of sociology has long been established in the universities in the West. This article introduces the theories and methodology of western ethnic studies, and suggests to develop a sociology of ethnicity in China on the base of three sources: traditional ideas of ethnicity in China, ethnic studies in the West, and the Marxist theory and relevant practice in the former USSR. The progress in this field will make important contribution to the development of sociological theory in the process of modernization and globalization.
