ON "THICKNESS" AND "QUALITATIVE FACTS" ——A STUDY OF <THE POETICS OF YANGYIZHAI>

潘德舆的《养一斋诗话》,议论充分 ,观点独到 ,是清诗话的一部重要著作。它十分强调诗要“厚”与“质实”,这实际上是主张诗歌要具有充实丰厚的思想内容和韵味深厚、质朴自然的艺术风格。很显然 ,潘氏这种观点的提出 ,是以张扬儒家“诗教”为目的的。这与当时社会思想浸润。

With the persuasive arguments and unique viewpoint, PAN De yus <The Poetics of Yangyizhai> became an important poetic work during the Qing dynasty. It holds that poetry should contain 'thickness' and 'qualitative facts'.This actually means that poetry should be of rich and varied ideas,and graceful and natural style. Obviously,PAN put forward this viewpoint aiming at spreading the Confucian 'poetic teaching'.This was closely connected with his personal experience as well as with the social and poetic trend then.
