On Distinguishing Features of Traditional Chinese Culture

以我国古代传统文化为代表的东方文化 ,具有强大的同化力、融合力和凝聚力 ,具有“重实际而黜玄想”的务实精神。从政治领域来说 ,吏治好坏成了核心问题。从隋唐科举制实行以来 ,人们“学而优则仕”的认识不断加强。中国社会的宗法制度根深蒂固。从社会意识来说 ,强调尊天、重人、天人合一的伦理文化 ,主导思想是入世。形成了精忠报国、以孝治天下。

The oriental culture embodied by the ancient traditional Chinese culture has great assimilative force, mergence force and cohesion, and is imbued with a pramatic spirit of “stressing practicalities and proscribing fancy”. As for the political sphere, the key problem lay in whether the administration of local officials was good or not. Since imperial examination system was implemented during Sui and Tang Dynasties, people have unceasingly heightened the awareness of“When a student can more than copy with his studies, then he takes office”. China's society had a deep rooted patriarchal clan system. As for the realm of social ideology, the leading ideology was to emphasize ethical culture of respecting the will of Heaven, valuing talents, and harmony between Nature and man. They evolved the values of serving their country with unreserved loyalty, governing their country by filial duty and regarding benevolence as foundation.
