美国农业部东部地区研究中心的研究领域是生皮保存、准备工序阶段的化学过程 ,鞣制、废物处理、生皮中各成分的作用以及皮革物理性能。在皮革物理性能方面的研究包含了 4个主题 :能量测定法、皮革的撕裂行为。

Hide preservation,beamhouse chemistry, tanning, waste management, role of hide components and physical properties of hide and leather are studied at the Eastern Regional Research Center of Agriculture Department in the United States.Research on physical properties is focusing on four areas, namely, energy methodology, tearing behavior, the use of acoustic emission to measure leather′s physical qualities, and build mathematical modeling in vacuum drying process.
