This paper discussed the tradition of the Chinese culture, the dominant culture in the countries of East Asia and the one of the major culture of the world. The paper attempted to explore the implications of the traditional thoughts in this great culture for education in the modern world. In particular, it investigated what the traditional Chinese views of mathematics and education should offer in the current discussion of mathematics education in the new millennium.
