A parasporal crystal toxin forming strain of Bacillus (SD 5) with good insecticidal effect and good fermentation behavior was isolated from dead larva of Psilogramma menepfron. Results of physiological and serological research showed that crystal protein of SD 5 differed from that of HD 1 and 7216 in characteristics. It is a new biotype that belongs to subspecies of kurstaki.
