略论岭南近现代的历史特征与文化精神

On the Characteristics and Cultural Spirits of Modern Times in the Subtropical Provinces of China (South of the Five Ridges)

在近现代一百余年的时间里，岭南地区的历史发展呈现出十分显著的特征。正是这些历史特征，生成了岭南近现代文化精神的优长，同时它也决定了岭南近现代文化精神的一些不足方面。因此，研究此一时期的岭南文化，首先必须准确地把握住时代特征，考察其对地域文化所产生的影响，这方面的工作尚有待于进一步加强。

In its 100-year modern history, the development of the Southern Region of the Five Ridges in China had very significant characteristics. These characteristics gave the modern cultural spirits of this area the advantages as well as some weaknesses. For studying the culture of the South of the Five Ridges during this period, we must above all master its historical characteristics, then evaluate the impacts on the regional culture. This kind of work should be strengthened.
