This article aims to study the techniques of how the existing IPv4 systems could upgrade to the IPv6 systems gradually, especially of the IPv4 application transition at the initial stages. Based on the up-to-date IPv6 transition techniques, this article presented a new technique of smooth transition from IPv4 applications to IPv6 applications, which is socket API Agent in the host technique. The transition mechanism and techniques introduced in this article are simple and practical, and accord with the Simple IPv6 Transition (SIT) proposal advocated by IEEE NGTRANS.
