This paper deals with the background of the celebrated Goodman's new riddle of induction and the logic and semantics of predicate grue. A Venn's diagram of predicate grue is presented. The author finds a good instance for predicate grue from titration jump in analytical chemistry, and explains the alternative change of emerald's color by an ideal experiment of adding different color filters before the emerald at different time. The conclusions are that 1) predicate grue seems not different to predicate green in the scientific instances; 2) projection theory articulated by Nelson Goodman failed to solve the problem of induction even if it is very interesting.
