Datong No. 1 Mine.Songzao Coal Mining Administration as research object.The actural research works ate as follows: at first. theroof-floor convergence of the centre roadway in the facewas continuously observed over a period of 3 monthes.In the period. 18 accidents of coal and gas outburstsoccurred. Through the statisticses and analysis of a lot ofobserved data it can be found that the facts of coal andgas outbursts is related to roof movement, while the roofmovement is affected by working procedure of acutter. It fully indicates that the cutting coal breakes theequilibrium of original roof and floor. leads to releaseenergy and forms the accident of coal and gas outburst.Further. what the velocity of roof-floor convergencechanges from high to low is the foreboding the occurrenceof the coal and gas outburst. Based on this phenomenonthe occurrence of following accidents was predictedsuccessfully.
