“桃林塞”位置考辨

桃林塞是指秦函谷关以西逶迤而至于湖水西岸的湖县故城，亦即湖县旧址（阌乡县城旧址）之间的函谷古道，它以此间谷道两旁及其以南衡岭源（南部为焦村源）、铸鼎原的桃树成林而得名。而瑕即《汉书·地理志》之湖，亦即湖县故城（湖县旧址、阌乡县城旧址），其地正在今灵宝市阳平镇阌东村西北约两公里处的湖水西岸函谷古道之中．因而詹嘉奉晋侯之命在此驻扎坚守桃林之塞，即可阻断秦人的东西往来，不使秦人“结外援，东西图己”。

Taolin Fortress refers to the archaic road ranging from the west of Hanguguan of Qin dynasty westwards the old city of Hu county (the old site of Wenxiang county) on the west bank of Hushui river. It got its name for the bushy peach trees along the two sides of the old Hangu road, and on the plateaux of Hengling and Zhuding. Xia is also Hu county of Han Shu Di Li Zhi, or the old city of Hu county (the old site of Wenxiang county), its site is located in the old Hangu road on the west bank of Hushui river, approximately 2km north- west of Wendong village, Yangping town, Lingbao, Henan prov. Therefore, general Zhanji- a received orders from the Duke of the Jin state and stationed a huge force in Taolin Fortress in order to block the invaders from the Qin and other eastern states.
