真武阁一名,可能与道教有一定的关系.道教供奉真武大帝.在这 座真武阁内,历史上可能供奉过真武大帝神,也可能住过道士。但这些都不足以说 明它为什么要叫真武阁。历史上个别文人,为了卖弄自己的学识,附庸风雅,编造 出,容城南都峤山为火,致使容城常有火灾,水能克火,需造北方水玄武庙才能镇住 上,故认为真武阁是五行学说的产物。如按这种说法,凡城建在大山之北的都需建 一座真武阁来慎压。此说谎谬。考真武即玄武,玄武即水神,也就是通常所说的龟 蛇。在天文分野上,越人属北方玄武。越人以蛇为图腾,故分野在北方。古代越地建有许多蛇神庙.用以祀祖。此真武阁的民众基础,便是祀蛇神,故真武阁就是蛇神庙。
The name of Zhenwu Pavilion rnight be related with Taoism which worships the God of Zhenwu. In history, some scholars made up the sto- ry which related thai fire often happened in the city,and Xuanwu Temple for the god of north(water) must be built to overcome fire, thus, Zhenwu Pavilion being the product of Theory of Five Elements. This article demonstrates the ridicule of this story and puts forward that the Zhenwu Pavilion of Rong county is the Temple of Snake.
