By means of Study on the mechanism to recover fatigue damage in 45 steel by heat treatment, discovered the changes in micro morphology of the materials during developing procedure of fatigue damage. It was analyzed that the effect of the temperature selected in order to recover the fatigue damage in the materials during tempering. It was found that there is a temperature threshold during heat treatment to the materials. When the temperature is the same as the threshold, the microscopic structure of the materials can be changed, and its brittleness will be decreased by tempering. Samples are tempered in salt bath, in order to reduce the distortion. By this kind of tempering, the fatigue life of 45 steel can be prolonged remarkably.
