基于IP网络的多媒体通信已成为现代通信及网络界研究的热点问题。本文主要介绍多媒体通信的概念,阐述基于IP网的多媒体通信的关键技术、协议,探讨基于IP网的多媒体通信的现状及其展望。

In the old days, most of the data carried on networks was textual datal. Today, with the rise of multimedia and network technologies, multimedia has become an indispens- able feature on the Internet. IP-based Multimedia Communication is a hotspot in the area of modem communication and network technology. In this paper, the concept of Multime- dia Communication is introduced, the important technology and protocol correlative to Mul- timedia Communication based on IP Networks are summarized, and the recent progress and expectation are discussed.
