On Liu Shao-qi' s Political Character

刘少奇同志在革命和建设工作中坚持实事求是，坚持把马克思主义同中国实际相结合；他胸怀坦荡，顾全大局，视党内团结为党的生命，从不计较个人的名利和职位，以党和国家利益为重；他严格自律，实践了自己所论述的共产党员修养；他一生历经磨难和挫折，但对共产主义信念矢志不渝，把毕生的精力都贡献给了党和人民的伟大事业。

As to the viewpoints of a series of Chinese revolutionary and construction issues, Lu Shao-qi dared to stick to seeking truth from facts and combining Marxism with Chinese realities due to his upright and unyielding character. He was broad-minded enough to take the interests of the whole into account, regarding the inner-party unity as the life of the Party with little consideration of fame, mon- ey and position. With the interests of the Party and country as first priority, he was strict with himself and set a good example of practis- ing what he preached. Although his life was full of hardship and frustration, he never lost faith in communism and devoted all his life to the great cause of the Party and people.
