贾宝玉是《红楼梦》中的主要人物，作者既写出了他身上表现出的鲜明的时代特征，也写出了他身上无法抹去的软弱与屈服。这种软弱性格有着深厚的历史渊源和沉重的文化积淀，而且这种历史文化影响潜化成了一种基因遗传，固化成了一种性格特点。

Jia Baoyu is the hero in “The Story of a Stone”. The author describes in Jia some sharp characters of his age, for example, some new elements and new features, and meanwhile Jia's insuperable weaknesses and tolerance. This weak character has a long historical origin and a heavy cultural load. And this historical, cultural influence has turned into a kind of genetic heredity, fossilized into a character difficult to overcome.
