A Discussion of Some Problems in Recalling Antiquity at the Red Cliff to the Melody Nian Nu Jiao

In studies on Recalling Antiquity at the Red C liff to the Melody Nian Nu Jiao ,there are some problems upon which controversi es have long been carried on and no consistent views have so far been reached.Th ese problems seem to be the ones of how to make pauses in reading its unpunctuat ed text and how to annotate its words and phrases,but as a matter of fact,they a re closely related to how to arrive at the understanding of its composition,the grasp of its subject,and the recognition of the background and the poets psych ology against which this piece of writing was created. Ci ,as a special form o f po etry,has its own linguistic and structural properties,and there have been a lot of analyses and pause-making readings of ci in which these properties were overlooked. ［
