The bone-shell inscripions can't consider to be the origin of Chinese characters. The inscriptions on pottery discovered at Erlito Ruin in Yianshi(Luoyang of Henan), are character s used in Xia Dynasty, most of which are in accordance with bone shell inscriptions and inscriptions on ancient bronze objects. These pottery inscriptions had complicate strcture and both simplified and complicasted from. Therefore, we also can't consider these pottery inscriptions as the origin of Chinese characters, At later New Stone Age(4200 to 6300 years ago),some engraved symbols on the pottery were quite different from the ancient picture and had the feature and chara cteristic of Chinese character, which can be considered to be the origin of Chin ese characters.
