Tan Yan-kai's Contribution to the Industry of Hunan Provincein the First Ten Years of Republican China

谭延闿在民初战乱迭起、政局动荡不定的艰难条件下，三度主持湘政，排除一切内外阻力，大力推行湖南的实业建设，使湖南的社会经济在某种程度上得到快速的复苏，近代工业发展出现了新的转机，其功绩是民初湖南的其他几位军政大员所无法相比的。

During the first ten years of republican China Tan Yan-kai had been the director of Hunan province three times. At that time, there was too many wars and the political situation was very instability. Tan Yan-kai overcame all the difficrlties, made effort to develop industry. The economy was recovered rapidly to some extent. In Hunan. a favourable turn of modem industry development was coming. Tan Yan-kai made the best achieve-ment of Hunan officials.
