Since 1990s, American economy has shown new characteristics of growth, which is called the U.S. 'New Economy '. This article emphatically analyzes the three challenges imposed by the 'New Economy' to the traditional economic theories: the query faced by economic cycle theory; the dilemma of Phillips Curve, and the perplexity between the theory of economic growth and the theory of macroscopic demand management .In the end, the article analyzes the three forming elements of the U S 'New Economy ': information technology ; globalization of economy and structure transformation.
