Errors in science in manuscripts and editor's prevention from the errors

阐述科技文稿中科学性差错的隐匿性和复杂性。认为防范科学性差错是编辑的社会职责 ,决不能一味依赖审稿专家。编辑应把科学性差错的防范贯穿于初审、复审、编辑加工、校对和印前审读等编辑出版的全过程 ,做一个名副其实的科学技术的“把门人”。

The paper discusses the obsure and complicated nature of errors in science which crop up in scientific papers, pointing out that it is the inalienable responsibility of editors to prevent the such errors and it is not advisable to rely on the scientific experts going over the manusripts alone. It is proposed that the whole process of editing, including primary check, rechecking, editor's revising, proofreading and final checking before printing, starts and ends with such responsibility of editors, who should serve as a real watchdog on guard against these errors.
