A Preliminary Exploration of Lao Zi's Thought of Harmony

在《老子》文本里 ,老子对和谐精神有着深刻的体悟。这体现在老子对万物的生成发展、人生的修身立命、社会的安定公正以及失去和争取“和谐”等问题的思考上 ,尤其是在“道法自然”思想里 ,这一精神蕴涵最为深刻。

Judging by the text of his masterpiece 'Lao Zi', Lao Zi has a very profound experience and understanding of the spirit of harmony. He embodies this experience and understanding in his considerations of such issues as generation and growth of the universe, man's cultivation of his character and establishment of his conduct, social stability and justice and the loss and pursuit of 'harmony', especially in his thought of Tao Fa Zi Ran(Tao governs the law of nature), which contains the most profound implications of his thought. In a word, harmony represents the highest realm and the utmost value of Lao Zi's philosophical pursuit.
