Structural characters and physical and chemical properties of each mono phase Sialon ceramic were reviewed systematically.Among mono phase Sialon ceramics,β' Sialon shows the highest strength and toughness,α' Sialon has the best hardness and wear resistance,O' Sialon is overwhelming in oxidation resistance.It is believed that Sialon is one of the most prominent structural ceramics at high temperature.Sialon ceramics are applied in many fields at present and their application in metallurgical and mechanical industries was introduced emphatically.
