城市功能是一个城市的规划与设计依据.城市功能的变化,往往会使城市的布局也随之变化.明代宣化古城的功能在从王城到军事功能为主的镇城,再到商业性为主的府城,其城市布局也从王城布局到府城布局.再到“万”字形布局.

Urban function is the basis of citys planning and design.Urban layout always changes with the changing of urban function.The ancient city of Xunhua in Ming Dynasty first changed from a King city into a military centre, then changed into a commercial city. Its layout also changed from that of a King city into that of a capital city, finally changed into the layout of a Chinese character '萬' (the original complex from of '万').
