民国初年北京大学的这一段重要历史 ,以往很少有人关注和深入研究。辛亥革命后京师大学堂如何改名为北京大学校。民国元年 ,孙中山、梁启超对北大师生作过两次精彩演讲。在 1912— 1913年间 ,这所中国最高学府竟然两次面临被停办或裁并的生死存亡境地 ,并发生多次学生风潮。首任校长严复和广大师生竭力挽救并改革北大 ,功不可没。北大在民初的曲折发展 。

Not many studies have been done on the history of Peking University during the early years of the Republic of China. This paper tells the stories about the change of the name of the university to Peking university after the Revolution of 1911, the two speeches made by Sun Zhongshan and Liang Qichao to the teachers and students at Peking University during the early Republic of China, and the students' movements in the years of 1912 and 1913. It also shows the efforts made by Yan Fu, the first president of the university, and other teachers and students at Peking University to save the university.
