How to treat Chinese traditional culture

中国传统文化 ,是中华民族长期延续、不断发展的精神支柱 ,在今天 ,它仍具有充沛的内在生命力 ,具有极为重要的现代意义。但是 ,它不能代替马克思主义而成为中国现代社会的指导思想。对传统文化 ,必须用马克思主义的立场、观点和方法 ,予以批判地继承。同时 ,传统文化必须实现理论的现代转化。

Chinese traditional culture always plays a role as the spiritual pillar for the everlasting continuation and development of Chinese nation. Even today, it still has its inner energy of growth, and seems to be very significant to modern China. However, it cannot become the ruling ideology for contemporary Chinese society to substitute Marxism. We should critically inherit Chinese traditional culture with Marxist standpoint, concepts and method. Meanwhile, Chinese traditional culture has to be theoretically transformed into its modern form.
