Hongkong Fiery Phoenix'is a great long poem by the famous Hongkong poet Wang Yitao, who had it published just before the hand-over of Hongkong. This passionate poem, with its historical unique associations, historical perspective, terse phrasing and striking images, traces and depicts the history of Hongkong over a lapse of one hundred and more years from its colonial fall, unrelenting revolt, unceasing strife for prosperity to the hand-over. It is, in fact, a grand epic of Hongkong, a song to the fighting spirits of its people and a eulogy on the momentous revival of the Chinese nation.
