It plays an important role in spreading The Art of War. This article explores the characteristics of Brief Annotations for Sunzi and its contribution to the spreading of Sunzi's The Art of War. This article contends that Cao Cao's annotations are compendious and appropriate, which have enriched and developed the military theory of Sun Wu, inherited his materialism and dialectical thought, greatly influenced later exegetes for Sunzi's The Art of War and promoted the spreading of different versions of Sunzi's The Art of War.\;
