Inclined longwall mining technique in China has being developed rapidly recently. Output from inclined longwall faces in China in 1988 achieved 10.44% of longwall output. The technique Was successfully practised at Meiyukoa Colliery of Datong and Tiantun Colliery of Zaczhuang in 1975. 15 years' practice shows that inclined longwall mining has the advantages of longwall mining along strike under the same geological conditions. The advantages include simplified haulage system, reduced drivage ratio, shortened construction period of 1-2 years and other economical benefits. 24 coalfields, which include Datong, Jinchsng, Zaozhuang, Yanzhou, Songzau, Jixi, Tiefa, Huaibei, Feicheng, Heshan etc, and 100-plus collieries have adopted the technique. Trend of adopting the technique is getting popular.The paper details present situation of inclined longwall mining technique, main unsolved technical problems and measures solving the problems.
