In the context of the historical period between Wu Xue Constitutional Reformation and Modernization and the Wars of Safeguarding-Constitution, the mentality and personality of the then media workers underwent fundamental changes, with Li Boyuan and Huang Yuansheng being the two most noteworthy, whose personality was uniquely remarkable in the circle of the press. Li Boyuan's personality was portrayed by a poet of his time as 'maintaining uprightness and integrity while leading a seemingly playful life', while Huang's personality experienced a process of transformation of (in his own words) 'my old self-my real self-my new self.
