Qu You and His Jian Deng Xin Hua

Based on Yue Fu Yi Yin and some other books, this paper first provides new evidence for Qu You s honesty and cleanness and for the truth made known in his book Jian Deng XinHua . Next, the paper tentatively explores the time of and reasons for his exile by the court, investigates the early composing and printing oiJianDeng XinHua , and approaches his checking against the text in his late years. Meanwhile, it discusses at length the essence of the book, which is actually an attack against chaos caused by war, probes into its far-reaching influence, and basically corrects the fallacy of some previous remarks, thus affirming Qu Yous prominent status and establishing the important position of his Jian Deng Xin Hua in the course of development of novels in China.
